The Oklahoma Conference of Church is currently establishing a Social Justice Ministry Network throughout Oklahoma. This network will be comprised of a representative from each congregation belonging to the 16 Communions of the OCC.
Churches and society are confronted by huge issues such as poverty, the environment, immigration, education, and criminal justice. It is impossible to tackle these issues by ourselves, so we need to join hands and work together. The OCC Social Justice Ministry Network gives us a vitally important tool to enable us to do this.
How does it work? Each representative will be kept informed by OCC of important issues including the work of the our IMPACT Committee as it tracks Oklahoma legislation. Where appropriate, we will produce relevant statements and recommend responsible action. Network representatives will then determine how best to pass on this information to members of their own congregation and other interested persons.
To learn more, arrange a meeting in your area, or sign up as a Representative, contact the OCC office at (405) 525-2928 or e-mail us okchurches@okchurches.org. The SJMN Congregational Representative form can be downloaded here.
